Firm Profile
Grant + Grant provides full
architecture and interior design
services for both residential and
commercial projects. Since 1994, we
have steadily expanded our project
types to include new and renovated
single family residential architecture
and interiors, corporate office
interiors, and product design.
Over the years, we’ve also developed
some additional ways to be of
service. Color Consultation for
architectural and product applications
and Design Counseling, an
abbreviated design consulting
service, have been particularly
helpful to our clients.
In all instances, we encourage a
collaborative process and consider
each project an opportunity to create
unique environments that place
equal emphasis on comfort, function
and beauty.
James Grant, AIA
James Grant began his professional
career in urban design, emphasizing
community redevelopment and historic
preservation. He then transitioned into
the design of corporate architectural
interiors and space planning. Starting his
own practice in 1986, he expanded his
range of project types to include custom
residential architecture, which often
included restoration and renovation of
existing homes, as well as new custom
houses. His early experience with urban
environments and interior spaces led him
to create a portfolio of distinctive projects
that were functional, attractive and
respectful of historic contexts, both
inside and out. In 1994 he partnered
with interior designer Robin de Gennaro
Grant to create a comprehensive
architecture and interior design practice.
James is a licensed architect in the State
of California and a member of the
American Institute of Architects. James
holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History
from the University of Southern California
and spent a year in Rome, Italy studying
Art and Architectural History. He received
his Bachelor of Architecture degree from
the Southern California Institute of
Architecture (SCI-ARC).
Robin de Gennaro Grant, CID
Robin de Gennaro Grant has worked in a
variety of architecture and design firms,
including Gensler, where she spent six
years concentrating on corporate office
interiors. In 1994, she and partner James
Grant started their namesake firm, and
began focusing on residential interior
design. Experience with both types of
design environments has enabled Robin
to explore other design avenues,
including color consulting for
architectural and product applications.
With partner James Grant, Robin has
created several collections of
sophisticated wool carpets that express
her rich sense of color and her interest in
classic contemporary design.
A graduate of Stanford University, with a
Bachelor of Arts in French Literature,
Robin also studied Art and Architectural
History at the Sorbonne in Paris, France.
She received her Professional
Designation in Interior and
Environmental Design from UCLA. Robin
is NCIDQ accredited and is a Certified
Interior Designer in the state of California
(CID). Robin is a member of the Color
Association of the United States, and a
provisional member of The International
Association of Color Consultants/North
America (IACC/NA).
